Workshop guide

Setting up a ski workshop: where to start

Opening or renewing a ski workshop means choosing machines, but also planning power, compressed air, the workbench and the hygiene of the rental fleet. Here is the order to follow.

The three basic machines

A ski tuning workshop rests on three stations: a base grinder for the base, an edge sharpener for the edges and a waxing machine for glide. Some machines combine several stations: the Profi 4 Racing brings together belt and stone grinding, and the robots chain grinding, sharpening and waxing.

Our guide to ski servicing in the workshop details the role of each step.

Electrical supply and compressed air

The supply format is given on each sheet. The Chatex CUB plugs into 220 V, the BWM 350 C Digital waxing machine runs on single-phase 230 V, while pneumatic machines such as the PROFI B 350 or the Profi 4 Racing require 400 V and compressed air.

For compressed air, we offer NUAIR compressors from 50 to 100 litres. Plan the electrical power and the location before ordering: some machines need a minimum door width, such as the POLYMAT PRO (80 cm).

The workstation

The right ski vise holds the ski upright for edge work, and sharpening tools (stones, gummi stones, edge guides) are used for finishing and touch-ups. For manual waxing, see the waxing tables and tools and the Holmenkol ski waxes.

Rental shops: boot fleet hygiene

A rental shop must also dry and disinfect its boots between two rentals. See our range of ski boot hygiene and drying: dehumidifiers, heating units, automatic disinfection and hygiene insoles.

Try before you buy

Our Albertville showroom welcomes professionals by appointment for a machine demonstration, and the Lentilly head office (Rhône) handles technical advice. Chatex is the exclusive Reichmann distributor in France.

Frequently asked questions

What budget should you plan to equip a ski workshop?

Machines are offered on quotation, because the configuration (options, power supply, installation) changes the price. Tell us your ski volume and your premises, and we will prepare a tailored proposal.

Do you need compressed air?

It depends on the machines. Pneumatic models (Profi, SF-4) need it, the Chatex CUB and the BWM 350 C Digital waxing machine do not. Each sheet states the type of supply.
